Kalundborg and especially the district of Højbyen are rich in buildings and environments from the Middle Ages.
Join us on a walking tour where we delve into the unique history.
The city walk starts at Kalundborg Museum, where we look into the museum and see the unique woven Crusade wallpaper with motifs from the city and its founder Esbern Snares' crusade.
In the museum garden there is a peek at a model of the medieval town.
Then we go to Højbyen, which is one of the best preserved medieval districts in Scandinavia.
We look into the unique five-towered Church of Our Lady and into a stone house that has had many functions, for example it has been used as a hospital.
We continue to the remains of the moat and the ruins of the castle that Esbern Snare had built, and around which Kalundborg grew up.
Along the way, we get close to the many fine details that characterize medieval building practices.
Unfortunately, the trip is not suitable for people with walking difficulties.
It is necessary to buy a ticket in advance.
