Photographer Søren Bay's photos and footage from Odsherred
Experience Odsherred through one of the region's most significant image makers, photographer Søren Bay (1879–1970). Bay photographed, painted and filmed Odsherred from 1899 until his death in 1970. In the exhibition, you are invited into a space where the landscape, history and everyday life unfold.
In Bay's pictures, films and paintings you can see the modernization of Odsherred over the 70 years he drove Odsherred thin on one of his beloved motorcycles.
His work ranges from landscapes to staged scenes, postcard motifs and paintings, and many of the classic recordings we associate with Odsherred today were created by him. In the exhibition you can see, among other things, his recordings from Malergården (1945), winter activities from 1940–42 and his film from the liberation in 1945.
The exhibition is divided into three rooms, which together provide an experience of Søren Bay's works, working method and his special view of Odsherred.

Bay's trip
On a trip to 1950s Odsherred
Here you meet Bay on his Nimbus motorcycle, and he travels through 1950s Odsherred. On the trip we meet happy tourists and some of Odsherred's many attractions.
Bay's Gear
Get up close to his original equipment – cameras, tripods, lights and technical devices – which together show how Bay worked as both a photographer and filmmaker.
Bay's brush
Bay was a multi-artist and through a selection of his paintings we show the sides of the photographer/painter. See both the well-known Lammefjord motifs that he reproduced in all sizes as well as other motifs from Bays Hånd.
Bays Bio – Watch Bay's film from Odsherred
In the second room, the mini-cinema Bays Bio awaits. Here you can sit back in the cinema chairs and enjoy several of Bays' films.
The films show everyday life, nature and major historical events – from winter games on the hills to the reception of freedom in May 1945.
Bays Postcard
Here, the Odsherred Stamp Club exhibits a large collection of Bay's many postcards. The postcards were a large part of Bay's work. The many postcards also show how people could send mail several times a day. How postcards were also used for the messages we send today with a quick text message or email.
