Do you need to have geothermal installed?

Geothermal heating systems are a type of system that has been on the rise for a number of years and although they are often limited to smaller areas, such as detached house plots, the establishment entails that any ancient monuments are destroyed.

If you are going to establish a geothermal system, you should contact the museum already in the planning phase and get advice on the best possible course of action for your project. You can on the page "Construction” read how to contact the museum's archaeologists and what information we need.

Especially for geothermal systems:

  • The vast majority of geothermal heating systems are established in private gardens on such small areas that it will most often be the museum that finances a possible archaeological feasibility study.
  • If we find significant ancient monuments on the area, they must be examined before the geothermal heating system can be established. The cost of the archaeological survey will be borne by you as the developer. As the cost of the archaeological survey is usually unreasonable in relation to the cost of the geothermal heating system itself, the Danish Agency for Culture will often be able to provide a subsidy for the survey. You can see the Palaces and Culture Agency's guidelines on grants Here!
